I had the pleasure of working with singer-songwriter Lily Meola on her latest music video, “Bolo Blues,” filmed in Austin, Texas at the iconic Willie Nelson’s Ranch.
Lily, who is widely recognized for earning the Golden Ticket on America’s Got Talent for her original song “Daydream,” brought a grounded, soulful presence to set that made the creative process feel effortless. The setting couldn’t have been more fitting—Texas light, open land, and the rich history of Willie Nelson’s Ranch created the perfect backdrop for the raw, emotional tone of the song.
For this project, we leaned into a creative departure from Lily’s signature natural look, introducing a bold, bright blue liner designed to mirror both her dress and bolo tie—visually tying the makeup directly to the song’s title and mood. The result was a striking yet intentional pop of color that felt modern, expressive, and perfectly aligned with the storytelling of Bolo Blues, while still allowing Lily’s authenticity to shine through on camera.
Projects like this—where music, visual narrative, and thoughtful beauty choices intersect—are always a joy to be part of, and this one was especially memorable. More to come from a few amazing days on the ranch ...
