New York State of Mind:
My bride Nicole is a California native who has a chic, polished style that I was immediately attracted to. I first met Nicole a couple years back when I had the pleasure of doing her makeup for her best friend’s wedding. She was wonderful to work with then, so when she reached out to me for her own wedding I was elated.
Nicole and Chris had a clear vision of what they wanted their special day to look like so let me paint a picture for you. Nicole knew she wanted a quintessential “California” wedding in the sense that she wanted her guests to get to enjoy the beautiful coastline, however, her upscale, polished, and classic style shined through with every last detail. They got ready at the La Jolla Shores hotel which started the day relaxed and calm, and later tied the knot in a romantic ceremony at the panoramic Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla, Ca.
The photos from Nicole and Chris’ wedding prove that the newlyweds got the California Chic fairy tale wedding they’ve dreamed of. And while all of the beautiful black tie celebrations might make you desperately wish you scored an invite, at least these photos will make you feel like you were there, too.
Black and white with Gold all over seemed to be the color scheme of the day. From the hand written invites, to the polished table settings and insane white and black anemones, no detail was forgotten. If you looked up, there hung floral decorated pendant lights, and every nook had a personalized touch. It was stunning. The groomsmen wore perfectly tailored black tuxedos and the bridesmaids, a black dress of their choice; to stay on theme yet allow for a more causal feel. Nicole’s gown had clean lines with beautiful flare and a chic gold belt that was the most perfect addition. Her makeup was a breeze. Her skin is absolutely flawless, and she wanted a natural look, so I did just that. We accented her eyes with light champagne and gold tones as well as soft browns and cream, with a very minimal liner. I went with a more peach color for her cheek and lip to compliment her skin tone and a subtle glow, because, you know… beach wedding! In fact, all her bridesmaids seemed to follow suit with the natural look as well, as did her stunning mother. I can’t get enough of this gorgeous group of women!!
Sarah Murry did an exceptional job capturing the pure love and joy these two shared on their special day and illustrated their vision perfectly. It almost feels like you were there, too — doesn’t it? This, along with the help of some A-Team vendors the wedding exceeded all expectations and in return, set the bar really high for those to follow!
